About the Artist :: Emily Leonard Trenholm
In 2002, I studied and painted in Florence, Italy, where I first studied light and architecture in the landscape. My daily life in Italy exposed me to beautiful architectural landscapes, under strong sienna and ocher tones. It was in Italy that I fell in love with plein air painting.
In 2005, I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the University of New Hampshire, where I studied the fundamentals of oil painting in the studio through a technical, classical program.
Following UNH, my passion for skiing led me to Jackson, Wyoming, where I studied winter as well as summer light in the Tetons. Now that I have returned home to Maine, I find myself recognizing a new love for the Maine landscape. I am inspired by Maine culture, our heritage, our homes, and the landscape in which we have made them.
