Camden Falls Gallery recently hosted “Camden Plein Air 2013,” our second annual plein air paint-out and wet paint auction to benefit the Camden Windjammer Festival, Camden Public Library, and Penobscot Marine Museum. From Monday, August 26 through Monday, September 2 (Labor Day), over 20 artists gathered to paint in and around beautiful Camden, Maine. This year’s participating artists included Camden Falls Gallery artists Bill Barton, Todd Bonita, Lee Boynton, Ian Bruce, Daniel CoreyAline Ordman, Judith Schuppien, Diane Scott, and Mark Shasha. They were joined by guest artists Tania Amazeen-JonesAllen Bunker, Beaman Cole, Teddi-Jann Covell, Alison Dibble, F. Michael Dorsey, Carol Douglas, Kathleen Galligan, Eric Glass, Judith Greulich, Alison Hill, Renee Lammers, Kirk McBride, Janet Sutherland, and Michael Vermette.


On Saturday, August 31 from 1:30-3:30pm, there was a “Quick Draw” paint-out featuring several of the artists, who painted on the Public Landing and around the wharf. Paintings created during that time were auctioned live on the Public Landing at 4:00pm to benefit the Camden Windjammer Festival. After the week-long paint-out, finished paintings were available for viewing at Camden Falls Gallery and on our website at Each piece had a “Buy It Now” price for immediate sale, and several paintings were purchased during the week. It was very exciting to see the new paintings come and go so quickly!


Our live Wet Paint Auction was held on Saturday, September 7 from 6:30-7:30pm at the Bok Amphitheatre in Camden Harbor Park, located behind the Camden Public Library. We hosted a preview reception there prior to the auction, from 5:30-6:30pm. Over 30 paintings were auctioned by local auctioneer Kaja Veilleux of Thomaston Place Auction Galleries.

Camden Falls Gallery thanks all of the artists and others who came out and supported “Camden Plein Air 2013.”  We enjoyed celebrating Maine’s rich maritime and artistic heritage with you!
